Preventing Harmful Drug Use In Australia
The National Drug Research Institute is hosting a two-day Research Symposium, "Responding to drug problems: Lessons from the past, future challenges and opportunities" in Perth, Western Australia on 25-26 September 2006.
While marking the 20th year of the Institute, the Symposium is an opportunity to engage with eminent national and international speakers. It will bring together experts on drug and alcohol policy, prevention and harm minimisation to reflect on the aims of the National Drug Strategy, the achievements of the drug and alcohol research sector in Australia, and to examine current challenges and chart future directions for the field.
The symposium is aimed at health and law enforcement researchers and staff who are involved in policy and service planning and delivery, in both government and non-government organisations. It will be relevant to policy makers; alcohol and other drug prevention and treatment specialists, particularly those engaged in management and service and program planning; law enforcement staff; and researchers.
The symposium is supported by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing and the Drug and Alcohol Office WA.
